When a patient has missing teeth, or a gap in their smile, applying a dental bridge is a common option. A bridge is a fake tooth that is anchored by surrounding teeth to help fill in the gap. Without missing teeth correction, the teeth can shift dramatically, causing discomfort to the patient.
What to Expect
Applying a bridge may take several visits to your cosmetic dentist in Sugar Land at Subtle Smiles. During the first visit, the preparation of the "anchor teeth" will be completed. The teeth may need to be resurfaced to allow for the application of a crown. Impressions will also be taken at this visit to have the crown formed at the dental lab. Dr. Youngs will place a temporary bridge to protect the teeth until the final appliance arrives back from the lab.
At your second visit. Dr. Youngs will remove the temporary bridge and place the permanent one. He will adjust it so that it fits properly and is comfortable for you, but it may take a few follow-up visits to get your bite and comfort set 100%.
