In order to help reform a damaged tooth, a porcelain crown can encompass the entire visible area of a tooth. Unlike fillings, crowns can create a new surface for the tooth while acting as a protective shell and improving cosmetics of the impacted tooth.
What to Expect
More than one visit to Subtle Smiles may be required for the crown placement to be finalized. Dr. Youngs will begin by first taking an impression of the tooth in order to form the crown. A portion of the tooth may have to be removed to allow for a proper fit. The impression will be sent to our dental lab, and in the interim- Dr. Youngs will place a temporary crown for your comfort and protection.
When the final crown has returned from the lab, Dr. Youngs will remove the temporary crown and place the permanent, long-lasting one. He will make sure the color and comfort of the crown are both exceptional before securing it into place.
